Ghana's SEC admits Africoin to its VASP sandbox

Africoin, a Rwanda-headquartered platform tokenising real-world assets (cocoa, coffee, gold, silver and verified carbon credits on Ethereum), was admitted to Ghana's SEC Virtual Asset Sandbox on 8 April 2026, among the first participants under the VASP Act 2025 (Act 1154).

Ghana's DPC declares 2026 the year full-scale enforcement begins

At the launch of Ghana's 2026 Data Protection Week on 26 January, DPC Executive Director Arnold Kavaarpuo confirmed that full-scale enforcement under the Data Protection Act 2012 (Act 843) began in January 2026, with unregistered data controllers facing fines and possible imprisonment.

Ghana enacts its VASP Act, the third new African crypto law in three months

Ghana's Virtual Asset Service Providers Act passed Parliament on 19 December 2025 and received presidential assent on 30 December, the third new standalone digital-asset statute on the continent inside three months, after Nigeria's ISA 2025 and Kenya's VASP Act 2025.
