Ghana enacts its VASP Act, the third new African crypto law in three months
Ghana's Virtual Asset Service Providers Act passed Parliament on 19 December 2025 and received presidential assent on 30 December, the third new standalone digital-asset statute on the continent inside three months, after Nigeria's ISA 2025 and Kenya's VASP Act 2025. The Bank of Ghana and SEC Ghana share the regulatory mandate, all VASPs must be licensed, and the law reaches Ghana's large informal crypto market. Supervisory rules are due in phases through 2026.
