Ghana's DPC declares 2026 the year full-scale enforcement begins
At the launch of Ghana's 2026 Data Protection Week on 26 January, DPC Executive Director Arnold Kavaarpuo confirmed that full-scale enforcement under the Data Protection Act 2012 (Act 843) began in January 2026, with unregistered data controllers facing fines and possible imprisonment. After more than a decade of registration drives and awareness campaigns, Ghana has moved to the enforcement phase, and unregistered organisations are the stated first target.
