FSCA fines QuickTrade R710,000 for AML failures in its CFD broker sweep
The FSCA imposed a R710,000 administrative penalty on QuickTrade (Pty) Ltd, an online CFD and forex broker, for multiple breaches of the Financial Intelligence Centre Act, including customer due diligence and AML control failures, and coupled the fine with a remediation directive. The action is one of several in the FSCA's continuing AML sweep of retail trading platforms. The read-across matters more than the number. Crypto asset service providers licensed under South Africa's CASP regime carry the same FICA obligations that QuickTrade breached, and the FSCA is enforcing them under an integrated conduct-plus-AML mandate. A CASP that treats FICA compliance as paperwork rather than infrastructure is queueing for the same outcome.
