SEC Nigeria revokes Kensington Agro's licence, its first under ISA 2025

9 February 2026 (published 2 March)  ·  More from February 2026

SEC Nigeria revoked the registration of Kensington Agro Trading Limited as a capital market operator with immediate effect, in a circular signed 9 February 2026 and published 2 March, acting under section 61(6) of the Investments and Securities Act 2025 and Rule 34(1) of the SEC Rules. The Commission did not publish its grounds, and commodity exchanges and investors were warned to cease dealings with the firm. What makes a routine revocation worth recording is its place in the sequence: this was the first publicised licence revocation under ISA 2025 authority since the Act's January 2025 enactment. Public warnings against unlicensed platforms came first (Aurum Bot, ModMount, 30 January). Revocation of a registered operator was signed within a fortnight. SEC Nigeria moved from enacting its new statutory toolkit to using it in just over a year, and operators registered under the old regime should assume their compliance posture is now being read against the new one.
